Study Abroad

As a Masters Degree Program in Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, the faculty and administration of the Security Studies Program (SSP) believe exposure to overseas experience enhances a student's overall education.  In support of this effort, SSP offers specific Georgetown University sponsored study-abroad programs, which students may take for credit during the summer.

Overseas study locations include offerings from the Office of International Programs at Georgetown University.

Study abroad is available only during the summer term.  Students who study abroad may transfer up to six credits toward the M.A. degree.  Only graduate-level courses for which the student received a grade "B" or better may be transferred into SSP.  Study abroad can only be taken after a student spends at least one semester on-campus and completes at least two courses in the M.A. program.

Note: The SSP allows its students to apply a maximum of 12 credits through the Consortium, Summer School, and study abroad combined toward degree requirements.
